About Jan Patience
Hello. I’m a Scottish journalist with more than 30 years experience as writer, editor and latterly, communications specialist. I am widely known and positively regarded within the media in Scotland and beyond, with extensive contacts.
I work tirelessly across digital, print and broadcast platforms, creating lively, informative and entertaining content. I care about the subjects with which I engage; providing clarity alongside informed comment.
I’m a published author and, with the backing of her family, I am currently writing a book about renowned painter Joan Eardley.
I set up and wrote all the content on the official Joan Eardley website and manage all Eardley social media on behalf of her family.
For the last 17 years, I have written about visual art for a variety of publications. I write a weekly column on visual art for The Sunday Post newspaper. I appear regularly as a guest on radio, podcasts and television talking about visual art.
I am a founding member of Women in Journalism Scotland and was its co-chair from 2019-2021. I have worked with BBC Academy’s Expert Women Scotland programme and as a consultant for BBC Scotland in the build-up to the launch of BBC Scotland.
I regularly chair sessions at arts events, including book festivals and television programme launches.
